Quilts have often been used to express ideas, heritage and needlework skill, but only came into the field of art in the latter part of the twentieth century. Fabric art and needlework arts and artistic abilities all blended and as the definition of what "art" truly included expanded with the sixties and there was less and less need for quilts for warmth due to central heating the quilters were suddenly freed to change size, shape, and purpose of their art work and the results are stunning. Here are a few sites, I'll add more later and feel free to suggest your favorites even if it is only one quilt or a whole galary of quilts and fabric arts.
